Testimonials

Get yourself in motion!

What can I say? It doesn't get more professional than this.
Chris has everything firmly under control.

First we started with a short presentation and the camera settings were discussed and checked. Then the great models arrived and we got started.

Chris kept checking that we were doing everything right and answered all questions promptly. At the end, the dogs were allowed to jump over a tree stump again so we could practise that too. After 7 hours, the first day was over.

The next day we did the image processing. Again, everything was super organized. It started with a presentation and there was also a great book to read about editing.
I was able to learn a lot again and can only recommend this workshop to everyone.

For me, it was the best workshop I've ever attended.
Thank you Chris for everything. 🙏🏻

Chris takes amazing photos, and when it was announced that a workshop would be held, I immediately seized the opportunity.

I never thought I could take a photo like Chris's, but I managed to do it. Even in single shot mode instead of burst, I was flabbergasted! It took me a while to get used to the idea, but Chris motivated me to give it a try (and eventually even the whole group).

Chris shares an incredible amount of information with great enthusiasm and a nice touch of humor. Since the group is small, there's also time to receive one-on-one support for everyone.

He has a fantastic team behind him in the frisbee sport. With such a large group of dogs and handlers ready to go, we were able to practice all day long. Just being part of that is an event in itself, getting to experience their energy and passion.

A lot of knowledge is also shared in post-processing, and you receive a beautiful workbook to take home. I learned new techniques that I can also apply to other photos.

I've attended workshops before, but none as extensive as this one. Even now, after the workshop, we can still reach out with questions, and he answers them quickly.

It took me 3 hours of travel time each day and a lot of muscle pain, but it was absolutely worth it! And of course, I can’t forget the fresh homemade soup!

The workshop is definitely a must-do. From the start, Chris gave me a warm welcome and immediately helped set up my camera correctly.

It doesn't matter if your camera is from a different brand—Chris's technical camera knowledge is astounding. After a short presentation with explanations, you jump straight into action, receiving real-time, helpful, and constructive feedback from Chris.

Even though everything seemed to move quickly (not just the dogs, but also the switching between dogs, etc.), the day still flew by.

Day 2 focuses on post-processing. You receive a guidebook to help you follow all the steps, but you also dive right into the editing process. Everything is explained step by step, and then it’s your turn to edit a photo. If you get stuck, Chris is there to help you back on track. Even though I already had experience with Photoshop and Lightroom, I still learned new things. So it's definitely worth the trip to Zwolle for this workshop.

I got to know Chris through his webinars at Inspawration. During these webinars, I discovered what amazing photos he takes! I never thought I could make such cool photos myself. But during his workshop, I managed to do it!

The weekend was well organized. The first day focused on photography. We received a lot of practical information beforehand, and Chris also took the time to go over the settings on our cameras. After that, we practiced a lot. Practice makes perfect!
Chris also motivated us to shoot with single shot mode, and even that worked!

Chris really knows a lot and shares this with great enthusiasm and pleasure. Of course, the humor was also an important part of the experience.
Additionally, he has a fantastic team behind him, with the best handlers and dogs. It was incredible to see how passionately they practice the dog sport.

On the second day, we focused on editing the photos.
I learned many new techniques for photo editing.
After Chris walked us through his workflow, we worked on our own photos.
Chris also supported us during the process and gave tips when needed.
We even received a beautiful booklet to take home, so we could review all the steps we learned at our own pace.

It was a fun and educational weekend. The group really clicked, and we were all motivated to learn from Chris. Both days were complemented by a delicious lunch, and Chris’s homemade soup was the cherry on top.

I attended the 'Poetry in Motion' workshop, and I can't put into words how amazing it was!

Chris has an incredible amount of technical knowledge and explains it in a way that makes everything click. Knowing a lot is one thing, but being able to convey it effectively is another—and Chris excels at this.

The workshop is challenging. It's truly one of the most difficult aspects of photography. But with plenty of time to practice with different dogs, you can really master it during the workshop.

Day 2 focuses on editing in Photoshop. Again, Chris shares a wealth of knowledge and does so in a way that's easy to grasp. This workshop has significantly improved both my photography and post-processing skills. The value for the price is incredible. It almost seems too good to be true, but it really is that good. Highly recommended!

And on top of that, Chris is a fun and awesome guy.

Finally managed to sign up for the Poetry in Motion workshop, and this time it was conveniently close to home.

Day 1 started with introductions and coffee. After a brief explanation of the techniques, we jumped straight into practice on the field. It was very challenging, and Chris kept providing tips and tricks throughout the day on how to get the best shots.

Day 2 began again with coffee and a review of how Day 1 went. Then we moved on to editing the photos, guided by a clear explanation from Chris.

I experienced the two days as a workshop without much fuss, just straight to the point, explained in simple and clear language. At the end, we even received a nice reference guide to help us edit the photos at our own pace at home.

Chris, thanks for the two valuable days— it was great!

Last year, I had the pleasure of attending the “Poetry in Motion” workshop.
It was two incredibly enjoyable days with only fun photographers. Besides having a great time, I really got to know my camera better. Previously, I managed with action photography, but now my hit rate has significantly improved and is truly in focus.

On the second day, Chris demonstrated how he edits images in Photoshop, and I learned quite a bit there as well. In short, I absorbed a wealth of information in those two days. Plus, I received a super handy handout to review everything at home.

Thank you, Chris!!
Also for the delicious tomato soup 😉

Chris's frisbee workshop was a fantastic opportunity to photograph something 'different' while also refreshing my knowledge of action photography. I thoroughly enjoyed this well-organized workshop and the clear, straightforward way Chris shared his expertise. Thank you for all the great care, Chris.

Daily Schedule

1st Day 2nd Day
The first day.
Practice, practice, and practice some more
Lying in the grass and looking through our lens is how much of the day will unfold. We start with a brief explanation of the theory behind action photography. Then, we head out into the field to get acquainted with the sport.

Setting up cameras, positioning, and practicing! It really comes down to your motor skills, and that takes time to train. Practice, practice, and more practice! As the day progresses, you will start hitting the mark more and more often. We will continue striving for improvement throughout the day. In between, a lot of technical and practical knowledge about action photography will be shared. Everything is focused on making sure you go home with sharp photos. After all, a great final result starts with a well-timed, razor-sharp shot.
By the end of the day, you will have several well-taken photos that you can truly be proud of.

Running Action
During the workshop, there will also be a segment on action towards the camera, along with all the associated theory and tricks.
The second day
We start with a debriefing of the first day. Then, there will be a demonstration of photo editing, which will be done using the workbook that you will also receive. After this demonstration, you’ll dive into it yourself. We’ll make it a fun day with a full lunch.
To participate, you’ll need a laptop with Lightroom and Photoshop. Some experience with both programs helps, but it’s not essential. The instructions will be based on a booklet, which you’ll use to work on your own edits. Throughout the day, there will be plenty of time for personal support. After the workshop, the booklet is yours, so you can continue practicing the edits at home.

During the Photoshop workshop, a technique using groups will be demonstrated that has worked so well, many participants make it a standard part of their Photoshop workflow. This technique simplifies and speeds up very complex edits. Plus, it’s applicable to everything. It’s a great way to take your edits to the next level!
Spare some time to edit
After the workshop you'll be expected to deliver two photos of each dog. Spare some time to finish these. The delivery of these photos is very important for the future continuation of these workshops because its what the trainers are modelling for. They'd be super exited to receive your work, and you might get some additional tips on them as well.
Editing skill level
Editing in Photoshop is particularly interesting for photographers who are already comfortable working with the software. This includes tasks like creating masks using the masking panel, making adjustment layers, using groups, working with curves, and more. It’s important that you know how to organize layers and understand how to adjust a mask using the brush tool. The presentation that starts on the first day will be delivered at an advanced pace. If you’re not yet at that level in Photoshop, don’t worry. Once the presentation is complete, the experienced photographers will work independently, leaving plenty of time for personal assistance so that we can break down the steps into more manageable parts together.
