Fundamental theories:
In photo editing, every adjustment—whether it’s a tweak on the slider or a stroke with the mouse—is a decision. These decisions are driven by a belief of what an edit should achieve. My editing concept revolves around three key elements: focus on the subject, mystical lighting, and mood. These principles form the foundation of every edit, creating a cohesive and powerful edit, but flexible enough to be applied to a large variaty of images. All of the foundational priciples that drive my edits combined is what I call 'The Concept'.
This editing concept is highly practical. It’s based on fundamental photographic theories that every photographer should understand. At its core, the concept answers the crucial question: What draws the viewer’s eye? Understanding this allows you to make more confident, decisive edits. Not only will it improve your work, it will also speed up your workflow.
By the end of this session, you'll have a solid understanding of the concept. Even though you haven't learned how to apply it, you can already start to implement it into concept to your own work. Don’t worry about making mistakes—this phase of the learning process is all about experimenting and rediscovering your own editing workflow. This phase will also lead to a lot of questions, and thats good because it means you've put thought into it. All questions will be taken care of in upcoming sessions. With practice, you’ll be able to make this editing concept truly your own.
To truly unlock the potential of your photo edits, there must be a seamless overlap between your photography and editing techniques. In this session, you'll learn a set of essential requirements your photos should meet to ensure optimal editing results. This knowledge will allow you to take your edits further than ever before and provide insight into why previous edits may not have worked as expected.
Throughout this session, we'll focus on how to capture photos that support your editing vision. Understanding these foundational photography principles will give you the ability to push the boundaries of your edits and create more striking, cohesive images.
Additionally, there will be a dedicated time to review your progress from the first session and address any questions or challenges you may have encountered. It's essential to fully grasp the concept before we move on to the more advanced techniques in the third and fourth sessions.
After this session, you should be able to take photos that naturally lend themselves to the editing style introduced in the first session. The period following this session will be a great opportunity to practice these concepts and refine your skills, as you capture photos specifically tailored for your editing workflow.

Editing techniques:
In this session, all the pieces of the puzzle will finally come together, creating a complete and cohesive workflow. With the conceptual foundations now clear, you’ll understand the why behind my editing approach and how each decision contributes to the final result.
During the session, I will walk you through one or two live edits, depending on our pace. As I edit, there will be ample opportunity for questions and discussion. This is a crucial part of the learning process, as it will help you see how all the concepts we’ve discussed in previous sessions come together in practice.
By the end of this session, you should have a solid understanding of how an image is constructed during the editing process and the role that each editing choice plays. You’ll also learn some of the cool editing techniques and tricks I use regularly, which you can start incorporating into your own workflow.
After this session, it’s time to take everything you've learned—the editing concept, photo requirements, and editing techniques—and integrate them into your editing process. You’ll receive a little guide that will help to ensure you don't forget the key steps as you continue to refine your skills.
